1982

A family moves in. Plates shatter by themselves. Loud banging erupts from the back bedroom with no source. Wall pictures swing open on their own — "like they were on hinges." A vaporous figure with no clear features watches from a hole in the wall. Small fires ignite in the bathroom. The father sleeps with a kitchen knife on the nightstand.

They later learn the truth: an old German man died alone in that house before they arrived. He never left.

The Levitating Saw

It started with a voice. Deep. Gravelly. Calling a name from an empty room. Shadow figures moved through the hallway with no light source to cast them.

Then — a hand saw lifted off the workbench. Horizontal. Floating. No hands on it. It hung in the air for three seconds before slamming down across a wrist. The resident left that night. They did not go back for their things.

The Handprint Inside the Glass

Visitors park at Estes Cemetery after midnight. When they return to their cars, the doors are unlocked. They locked them. They always lock them.

On the inside of the windshield: a small handprint. A child's hand, pressed flat against the glass from within the sealed, locked vehicle. No child was with them that night. No child was anywhere near that cemetery. No explanation has ever been found.

A law enforcement agency — officially — could not explain what appeared on their own cameras. They said it publicly. On the record.

The Grunt in the Kitchen

The dogs refused to go into the basement. For weeks, they'd stop at the top of the stairs, hackles raised, staring into the dark below. Then the water main burst and the house sank. That same night, the sounds began.

A cast-iron pan slamming a wall upstairs. Scraping slowly down the stairwell. Then a sound from the kitchen — low, deep, guttural. Not human. The roommate ran. Didn't stop. Didn't come back for their belongings. The owner stayed. Heard it again two nights later. From the kitchen. Alone.
